We venerated relics of St. John Chrysostom, among others, at one of the many small chapels at the monastery. The door into this little chapel was about 4 feet high! I guess the monks back then were shorter.
The door is small to recrate crawling into the cave where the chapel to the Archangels was on the Holy Mountain. I believe that's what they told me, it was my first day there and I wasn't quite into the swing of speaking a lot of Greek. The first 4 or 5 days I was there I actually slept in the big room right next to it.
That little chapel was my favorite place while I was there! It's so nice to see pictures of it again, I'm hoping to make it back to Serres early October when I get to Thessaloniki.
