Constantinople, Part 4: Saturday Morning Boat Trip on the Bosphoros

On Saturday morning, the hotel had a really nice complimentary breakfast and then the group was off for a boat trip up the Bosphoros. During the ride, our tour guide gave what may have been a very informative talk about the sites, but it was all in Greek so we have no idea what he said. ( ;

(On that note, my Greek school starts Monday. It will be Monday-Friday, from 9:00-1:00. I've heard there's then several hours of homework each day. Pelagia's school should start in the next week or so.)

The top photo shows one of the bridges across the Bosphoros, connecting Asia to Europe. The second photo shows some walled fortifications built in 1452. Amazingly, the Byzantines built these in only 6 months, as they prepared for the impending Ottoman assault.

There are many more photos of our trip here.
